Two copies of Census Search request (1850 and 1860) of Lineages, Salt Lake City, Utah by Jean Farwell for ancestors Marcus Delafayette Allen and Horace N. Allen.
More questions than answers are raised by this search. Horace Allen and March C. Bladgett have a daughter (Eva M.) born in West Boylston, Massachusetts on July 13/14, 1854 just days before the death of Horace's wife Nancy, who dies at age 25. Since baby Eva was conceived and born while Horace was married to Nancy, it's possible that Horace's uncle Marcus was named as the father. And so it goes. Eva was eventually adopted by William H. Bass.
Request for marriage records of Horace Allen/Mary Blodgett and Marcus Allen/Elsie Alberd (records 1433014 and 1433013) - no dates given. No record found for marriage of Susan Allen/Wm Bass. Also could not find record for marriage of Horace Allen/Nancy Goodnow

Last will and testament of Hannah W. Moore. She names William H. Bass, executor of this will. Signed and witnessed May 23, 1865. Witnessed by Harriet E. Hunt, Jane E. Bass and William H. Bass

Quit-claim deed from Daniel Mayo to Calvin Mayo Jr, both of Orange, for the consideration of Seventy-five dollars fifty acres. June 22, 1844
Included in folded deed was a poem Sorrow For The Dead found in the writings of Miss Lucretia A. Warner, daughter of Mr. Solomon Warner, who died at age 20 on May 19, year unknown.

Eva Hubbard, in consideration of three hundred and fifty dollars paid by Jacob Mantel deeds him a certain tract of land in Warwick MA, Nov 1, 1888.
This is the same premises that was conveyed to Ivers and Mary Pollard in 1876 and recorded to Franklin Co Registry of Deeds Book 327, page 260.

Delia Bass, widow of Obediah Bass, requests a pension increase from four and a half dollars a month to eight dollars a month under the Act of Congress of Dec 1866. Delia is 81 yrs of age. "She has not in any measure been engaged in or aided or abetted the Rebellion of the United States."

The doctor states he was well acquainted with Obadiah Bass and attended him in the last years of his life. He "died of a disease contracted while in service ...constantly and continually suffering from a rupture giving him great pain and distress."

One side of the paper from Aaron Bass, the brother of Obediah Bass. "He volunteered into the service a sound robust and able bodied man, after his discharge from the army his capacity for labor was greatly diminished and his constitution broken down and he continued to sink gradually until entirely disabled."
The reverse side from S. Jennings, a neighbor to Obediah states " he froze his feet by being exposed to the wet and cold weather....his constant suffering and the fact that he never could wear a common sized shoe but only moccasins and cloth on socks..."
Written Dec. 1853-

Suggests that Mrs Delia Bass have files examined from 1846 to strengthen her widow application.
Same letter states that application of Mrs Lycena Farnsworth was rejected because there was no claim that her husband died from any disease contracted in the service in the war of 1812.
Attached is printed document from Pension Office dated March 25, 1853.

Two hand-written poems of unknown origin. One a religious poem - The Inquiring Mind, the other To A Friend, wishing "unveiled joy" to a friend

This letter dated 1854 gives evidence that Delia is " a credible, respectable woman, continues the widow of Obediah...now resides in my house in Warwick,"
Jonathan Blake certifies that Leland is a credible witness.
